Junior League of Manatee County Kicks Off Our 25th Year With Enthusiasm and Optimism!

As we celebrate our 25^th year in Manatee County, we are excited to introduce to the community our new executive council and their goals for the year.

Our new President Deanna Levengood says, “We are privileged to announce that our organization is celebrating its 25^th anniversary. We are sincerely honored to have the opportunity to serve children in Manatee County. Due to the extraordinary efforts of past and current members, the 2011-2012 year presents great potential for further growth and development for our organization.”

Finance Council V-P Sarah Mackie will be working hard this year. “We are looking forward to our fundraising events this year. Beertopia, being held once again at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing in January 2012, will be expanded this year to include a sporting event and after party. The American Girl Fashion Show is being held again at the Bradenton Municipal Auditorium in March 2012. These are fun events that enable us to help the Manatee County community.”

Christy Cardillo, Community Council V-P, says, “I am so excited about our projects this year. We have already provided gift cards for 100 foster children to buy new shoes for the school year and we are just getting started. Our 2^nd Annual Get Your Fit On! event, promoting nutrition and exercise awareness for kids, will be held at Pirate City in October 2011. We are also planning ten fun-filled evenings for foster kids throughout the year where League members will serve as mentors for the kids. Last but not least, ourJunior League Gives Back Event for foster children will be held again in December-when we replenish backpacks and give much more, such as pajamas, books, and bike helmets.”
