TAMPA, Fla. – Florida’s only accredited Basic Economic Development Course brings state frontrunners to the University of South Florida from Oct. 31 to Nov. 1 to prime the next generation of economic developers and business leaders responsible for crafting a prosperous city, region and state.
“This International Economic Development Council accredited course isn’t just for those advancing their career in economic development, although it’s part of the required Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) curriculum,” said Eileen Rodriguez, who is one of the course instructors and the regional director of the Small Business Development Center at USF. “The course, sponsored by USF College of Business, serves as a foundation for anyone wanting to learn how to continue pushing our communities forward.
In the past six years, more than 135 people have taken the multi-day course. Participants include businesses leaders, economic development organizations and chambers of commerce. Companies involved with public utilities, consulting, education, finance, real estate development and transportation often send employees to sharpen skills.
This year’s sponsors include the Florida Economic Development Council, JAX USA Partnership for Regional Economic Development, Tampa Electric and USF College of Business.
