The second annual Get Your Fit On!, an event focusing on nutrition and fitness awareness for children was held at the end of October. The event was hosted by the Junior League of Manatee County at Pirate City. Over 150 children participated in the fitness activities such as fast pitch, volleyball, karate, soccer, and football and obstacle courses. Nutrition tables challenged the kids to guess “which is the healthiest option”, “how much fat”, and “eat this, not that”.  The kids were able to get hands-on experience formulating a healthy dinner plate and making the snack, Critter Crunch. It wasn’t all about learning though. Bikes, scooters, and more were raffled off to encourage exercise and a bounce house was just plain fun! Event Chair Julia Robinson said, “The Junior League of Manatee County had a wonderful day educating Manatee County children about healthy lifestyles and hopefully we were able to encourage children to exercise and make healthy eating choices!”
